Wyatt Waters Speaks to MAG Members

09/04/2018 8:00 AM | Webmaster (Administrator)

MAG members are looking forward to hearing Wyatt Waters at the September 4, 2018 meeting.

Wyatt Waters, one of Mississippi's favorite artists, is widely known for his watercolor paintings of Southern culture and the roadside South.

He was born in Brookhaven and graduated from Mississippi College with a bachelors degree in art and a minor in English.  He originally wanted to be a teacher but became more interested in painting.

He mostly works outside to get the real experience of art, away from the digitalized world we live in.  He says that as a for of free expression, his paintings are like his diary.  He credits the painting of John Singer Sargent as his most influential.

He owns and operates the Wyatt Waters Gallery in Clinton.  He has collaborated with Robert St. John on four books, including their most recent, A MISSISSIPPI PALATE. He lives with his dog James in Clinton.
