Artist Bio
Mary Ellen and her husband Joel have lived on the Mississippi Delta’s Edge since 2022. However, she grew up in Canton, MS and lived in the Pacific Northwest for thirty years after graduating from Mississippi State University in Architecture.
Mary Ellen is a licensed Washington State Architect, but has found a love for painting with oils. Prior to college she studied watercolor and design under Marie Hull and in college drawing under Brent Funderburk. More recently, she has taken oil lessons and workshops from Carol Roark and Susan Patton.
Mississippi is rich in iconic scenes that have not changed in over the past one hundred years. These scenes are deep in our Mississippi roots. Many of Mary Ellen's paintings are Mississippi images that have captured her imagination and hopefully capture yours.
