Artist Bio

Lydia, a Mississippi native, has been drawn to color, form, and design since childhood but did not seriously pursue art until a few years ago. After a fulfilling career in education and corporate/retail training, she was introduced to soft pastels by fellow artist and friend, Mandy Ellard. Under her guidance, Lydia began to paint in earnest, continuing her art education through workshops with many successful artists, including internationally-known pastelists, Alan Flattmann and Richard McKinley.

In addition to being a member of the Mississippi Artists Guild, Lydia is actively involved with the Pastel Society of Mississippi and currently serves as President of the organization. In July of 2023, she was juried into both the Degas Pastel Society and the Pastel Society of America and is an Associate Member of the American Impressionist Society.

Lydia loves to travel and draws inspiration for her art from the beautiful landscapes she visits both near and far.
