Artist Bio
Mississippi artist Patricia Franks can't remember a time when she wasn't drawing. Her passion for drawing eventually became a passion for painting, and she received a BA in art from the University of Mississippi, where she studied with painter Jere Allen and printmaker John Winters. Currently, she enjoys painting mostly in oils and soft pastels, working either in the studio on still life and portrait commissions or painting scenes from nature en plein air. Her subjects stem from her love of nature in all forms, her upbringing in rural Mississippi and from her many travels. She is most happy when showing her work and taking classes offered by the Mississippi Artists' Guild, where she currently serves as Secretary. She is also a member of the Pastel Society of Mississippi. Patricia's work can be seen at the Jackson Street Gallery in Ridgeland and Vicksburg, Mississippi.
