I love to work with all kinds of media, painting in mostly a realist style. As a small child I would sketch, play with watercolors, paint by number oils, and do any art project the teachers gave me with gusto. In college, I took Art 101 at Delta State University where I was introduced to acrylics and aced it. Then life set in and, between my working career and raising a family, art went on hold.
In 2018, I came back to art, drawing birds and insects with colored pencils and charcoal. From there, I progressed to painting landscapes and still life pictures using watercolors, oils and pastels.
In the fall of 2019, I was accepted into the Mississippi Artists Guild (MAG) by presenting three of my works for approval. I progressed to oil painting by studying Bob Ross videos and various art books which my children and husband gave me. I have attended many workshops taught by nationally and internationally known award-winning artists.
As a member of the Mississippi Artists Guild, I have had my art work displayed at the Florence City Hall, at two Jackson Prep Academy MAG art shows, and at two Pacesetters Art Gallery judged MAG art shows. I won 1st place in the pastel category in the March 2024, MAG judged show with my painting titled, “Sunset at Mobile Bay Ferry.” I have taken lessons from Diane Norman (charter member of MAG), who has won numerous awards for her watercolor and oil paintings. I also took part in “ART on the REZ 2024” and sold several paintings.
I am also a member of the Pastel Society of Mississippi (PSM). My work was in the judged Pastel Society of Mississippi art show at Three Houses Art Gallery in November of 2023. I have been elected by PSM as Vice President for 2025. I have art on display at Spectrum Capital and do commission work. I welcome all inquires.
