Artist Bio
I am a lifelong educator who worked in Louisiana, Mississippi and provided professional development sessions and training across the nation. I helped start The Louisiana School for Math Science and the Arts and served as the legislative consultant as Mississippi initiated the Math Science School in Columbus. I presented at numerous state, regional, and national conferences. I have written grants, monitored programs and worked with school systems to improve academic outcomes. I have been a teacher, curriculum coordinator, university administrator, instructor of both graduate and undergraduate courses and I worked with business and industry to set up employee education centers in wood products companies across Louisiana. Post baccalaureate degrees are masters, specialist and doctorate.
My passions are reading and painting. As therapy after a stroke in 2011, I began a pastel lessons with Cecelia Baker that ended when she moved out of state. Over the last five or so years, I’ve taken lessons from Mary Alice Lee who introduced me to oil painting. Painting is now an almost daily endeavor. While I have created a lot of garbage art, I have also managed to grow as an artist. What a nice way to spend the senior years!
